Ohio State women’s associate head basketball coach Patrick Klein resigned Friday after allegations of NCAA violations according to a statement from the university.

Klein was placed on administrative leave on July 26 while the university began an investigation into violations of university and NCAA policy.

Klein’s official resignation came in the form of a letter Friday.

“Over the course of the past two weeks it has come to my attention that some of my actions as a coach have not strictly adhered to NCAA rules,” Klein’s letter read in part. “I’ve also been made aware that in some instances, my communications with student-athletes may have been too informal or in some cases even inappropriate, violating university policy.”

The statement from the university said that Ohio State has notified the NCAA of the violations and will continue to investigate the matter.

Klein served as an assistant coach and associate head coach for eight seasons with Ohio State.
