Ohio State fell to No. 2 in the second week of the College Football Playoff rankings Tuesday, moving behind LSU despite a 73-14 win over Maryland Saturday.
LSU defeated Alabama, ranked No. 3 in the rankings a week ago, 46-41 on the road Saturday, improving its record to 9-0.
Following the loss, Alabama dropped to No. 5 in the rankings as the first team out of the playoff.
Clemson was the first team out in the previous rankings, but after then-No. 4 Penn State lost to then-No. 17 Minnesota Saturday, the Tigers have improved to No. 3.
Penn State dropped to No. 9 following the loss and come to Columbus to face off against the Buckeyes Nov. 23 at noon.
Minnesota jumped to No. 8 and has a two-game lead on No. 14 Wisconsin in the Big Ten West Division. Ohio State would play Minnesota in the Big Ten Championship Game if the season ended today.
Ohio State travels to Rutgers Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. kick-off time.
