With a chance to collect its third straight win over a ranked opponent, Ohio State wrestling capitalized Friday night.

The No. 4 Buckeyes (6-1, 2-0 Big Ten) took care of No. 8 Wisconsin (8-3, 1-3) with a dominant 24-13 win in the Badgers’ backyard.

Both teams entered Friday night’s showdown off the strength of a ranked win –– Ohio State besting Rutgers this past week, and Wisconsin pulling off an upset against Nebraska Sunday.

In the 141-pound weight class, No. 1 Ohio State senior Luke Pletcher defeated No. 4 Wisconsin redshirt senior Tristan Moran. Pletcher pulled out an 11-3 major decision win in the only top 5 matchup of the meet.

At 197 pounds, No. 1 Ohio State redshirt senior Kollin Moore produced a convincing win over Badger freshman Peter Christensen. Moore’s 100th career win added to the Buckeyes’ lead with a 21-3 tech fall over Christensen.

Ohio State redshirt freshman Sammy Sasso, the No. 6 wrestler at 149 pounds, squared off with No. 13-ranked Wisconsin redshirt senior Cole Martin. Sasso won the match with a last second nail-biter takedown that led to a 12-3 major decision for the Buckeyes.

The newest Ohio State blackshirt, No. 8 redshirt sophomore Kaleb Romero, beat redshirt freshman Jared Krattinger of Wisconsin in the 174-pound weight class. Romero proved to be too much for Krattinger, finishing the match in a 7-3 decision for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State will head home to the Covelli Center to face Illinois Sunday at 1 p.m.
