The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team suffered another defeat on the road Sunday.

The Buckeyes (4-3) fell to No.19 Umass (3-1) 21-16 in Georgia.

Eight Buckeyes contributed to the team’s 16-goal total, and jnior midfielder Ali Beekhuizen and junior attackman Sophie Baez were the leading scorers for the Buckeyes with three goals each.

Ohio State freshman attackman Ashley Turner scored the game’s opening goal, but it was the only lead the Buckeyes held.

UMass scored four consecutive goals before the Buckeyes could get their second.

Beekhuizen scored the Buckeyes’ first goal of the second half to make it 17-9. She scored the next goal for Ohio State as well, which opened the door for a Buckeye comeback, but it never fully materialized.

Seven different Buckeyes contributed goals in the second half, but the UMass margin was too great.

The Buckeyes continue their string of road tests against Marquette at 2 p.m. Saturday.
