Snyder aims to revamp honors program
Provost Barbara Snyder announced plans to implement changes to the honors program, based on the recommendations made by internal and external committees, in her State of Academic Affairs address on Jan. 13. The changes include requiring all honors students to take at least six honors or upper-level courses in their first two years and maintain a 3.4 grade point average, Snyder said. Additional changes include a proposal for the Honors and Scholars Center to be designated as an academic center. If approved, the center will have an oversight committee, develop a pattern of administration and be subject to a periodic review, Snyder said. "The proposed changes will strengthen honors education through more honors courses offered, closer collaboration with the college honors programs, improved honors advising and closer monitoring of honors students progress towards completion of honors programs," said Linda Harlow, associate provost of University Honors and Scholars.<br />
