Did you know that you can see a play, go to an art gallery, visit the doctor and surf the Internet all in one day at Ohio State?According to Marianne Ragins, author of the book ‘Making The Most of Your College Education,’ most students are not aware of what college campuses offer.’It’s not that Generation X is lazy,’ Ragins said. ‘I think many of them are just unaware of what is out there. OSU has so many resources, extra curricular activities and organizations students can get involved with,’ she said. ‘The only disadvantage I can see is that students may tend to spread themselves thin by getting involved in too much.’Students can get involved in more than 500 student organizations at OSU where they can develop areas of interest and leadership skills, said Paula Compton, assistant director of OSU freshmen admissions.’Many students don’t always appreciate the opportunities college has to offer when they are there,’ Compton said.Learning how to manage your money by building credit responsibly and constructing investment portfolios using campus resources is also discussed in Ragins’ book.’I used to save all my change and at the end of the year I would put the money into savings bonds and eventually into CDs and stocks,’ Ragins said.Ragins, 23, is a 1995 graduate of Florida A&M University. She was a business administration major with a concentration in finance and accounting. ‘College is a time to grow and mature but students need to have fun too because after graduation it’s time to take on a lot more responsibility,’ she said.
