And the verdict is . . . wait. The results of the COTA referendum are still in the hands of judges until 4 p.m. Thursday. Undergraduate Student Government hoped to have voting results available last night. But the polls were open until 7, and the tabulation is being done electronically by workers in the ID center in Lincoln Tower, which closes at 6 p.m., said a student government official.Once the votes are calculated, they will be sorted into three categories: those cast by undergraduates, by graduates and by professional students, said John Carney, president of the student government body. The votes for and against will then be separated within each student category, Carney said. Carney said voter turnout was high and that the issue seemed to spark a lot of debate.’I think it’s great that so many students became involved with this issue,’ Carney said. It’s rare that students have the chance to take part in deciding how their fees are used, and the past two days of voting are ‘what democracy is built on,’ he said. He said that the level of interest he has seen should ‘set the precedent’ for OSU student participation and involvement with all issues pertinent to their university. Results will be announced at the Student Affairs building, 33 W. 11th Ave.
