Good beer and relaxing music might not be a typical way to define the winter ‘blues,’ but Stache’s defines it that way.On Saturday night, the Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA) will hold a ‘Last Blues Bash Party’ to entertain local blues fans before Stache’s closes its doors, featuring national blues artist Carl Weathersby. Also performing will be Big Al and The Capital City Players, and Ray Fuller and The Blues Rockers, said Jim Biersdorf, CBA’s president.Although this is not the last blues gig for Stache’s, it is the last time that the CBA will sponser a performance. CBA has been working with the local bar almost from the groups’ inception, Biersdorf said.’Dan Dugan (Stache’s owner) is a super guy. The CBA formed in 1989, and 1991 is when we first started playing there,’ Weathersby said. The songs Weathersby writes have special meaning for him, such as ‘Somebody Help Me’ from his current release, ‘Don’t Lay Your Blues on Me.’ The song was written about the murder of his teenage nephew.’You can watch the news and see people out there, many of them on drugs,’ Weathersby said. ‘To me, this song is going a little deeper into it. I write about the things I see and the things I feel.’He aims not only to please blues fans, but possibly even create some.’I want people to hear three notes and say, ‘that’s Carl Weathersby,” he said. ‘And once they hear three notes, they’ll want to experience a great many more.’ The ‘Last Blues Bash Party’ will be an all-night event. The show begins at 7:30 p.m., with Carl Weathersby scheduled at 10:15 p.m. Tickets at the door are $6 for CBA members, and $10 for non-members.
