Ohio State’s women’s soccer team was over matched on Friday afternoon by No. 5 Penn State. The lady Bucks fell to the Lions 5-0 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.Courtney Lawson scored four goals and Christie Welsh added a goal and two assists for all of Penn State scoring.With the win Penn State clinches the first place seed in the Big Ten Tournament.”It was an outstanding Penn State team we just played,” Buckeye coach Lori Walker said Friday. “Unfortunately, their strength is up front and right now we’re very exposed there with the injuries we’ve had in the back.”Over the past three weeks the team has lost a midfielder and two defensive players to injuries; midfielder Jaime Minteer and defensive back Elisa Hamilton both have torn ACL’s and will be out for the remainder of the season. Elizabeth Moore has a slight knee injury and is expected to return before the Big Ten Tournament.”It’s a tough, physical conference and we play physical teams,” Walker said.OSU will have two more matches before the tournament begins on Nov. 4 in Bloomington, Ind. The Buckeyes will play at Bowling Green on Wednesday before returning home to face West Virginia on Friday.
