The Schottenstein Arena shook Wednesday night, literally, when Korn made a stop in Columbus on their “Sick And Twisted Tour.” Jonathan Davis, lead vocalist for the group, screamed his way into the hearts of all the attendees.Stained, an up and coming band opened to an anxious but receptive crowd. Once their set ended the stage curtain closed and the crew began to set up for Korn’s arrival. After a twenty minute wait and the showing of many adolescent breasts, Korn began to rip into a guitar introduction from behind the red curtain. Fans began to hold up lighters giving the Schott an eerie glow. Out of nowhere the curtain dropped and the band launched into their hit song “Falling Away From Me.” Jonathan Davis, dressed all in black, resembled Angelina Jolie at the Oscars, while the rest of the group were dressed like the members of the crowd. Around the stage, on all sides, fans were pushing their way up trying to get a closer view of the band. Behind the stage video images were being projected of the band and other psychedelic images on the walls. The song ended with shooting flames in the front of the stage and the crowd showing their approval with monstrous applause. Korn had no problem getting crowd involvement. “Got The Life,” had the entire crowd singing along and heads kept slamming.Forty-five minutes into the show, as Korn left the stage, Davis announced the band was using The Guinness Book of World Records loudest sound system, and they were going out into the crowd to hear it for themselves. After this brief intermission, the show began to get crazier, if that was possible. Davis emerged from the middle of the stage, dressed in a black kilt, playing the bagpipes. The crowd became more unruly than before as Korn performed “Chutes and Ladders,” a song combining nursery rhymes and Korn’s hard rock influence. One of the main highlights of the show was “Freak on a Leash,” the song that really brought Korn into the mainstream. On the screens behind the stage, images of bullets from their 1999 MTV Best Video Award video were being projected. This song was a definite crowd pleaser. All and all Korn puts on an excellent show. Take it from a reviewer who had her first Korn experience and cannot wait for her next.
