A 21-year-old man, not affiliated with Ohio State, died in Paterson Hall over the weekend, according to University Police.
Timothy Kidner, a former Ohio University student from Jefferson, Ohio, was visiting friends in Patterson Hall. Rick Amweg, assistant chief of police, Kidner was out with friends. After returning to the residence hall, Kidner and his friends went to bed.
“On noon on Saturday, his friends tried to wake him and could not,” Amweg said. He went on to say the friends called for help and medics responded.
“It was determined on the scene he had died,” he said.
Because of the ongoing investigation, Amweg could not comment further.
The coroner is conducting an autopsy and the cause of death will be released as soon as the information becomes available.
