In 1517, Martin Luther wrote “The 95 Theses.” This work was a list of grievances against the Church of England’s sale of indulgences, among others, and was a great catalyst in the Protestant Reformation.
In a similar, much smaller fashion, I think I should do this on behalf of our nation.
Fellow students, we do not realize who we are about to elect into our presidential office. The man that is Barack Hussein Obama has ideals intended to transform our nation into something that America was never intended to be.
Barack Obama holds the ideals of a socialist. Socialism is defined by Marxist theory as “the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.” This is what Sen. Obama stands for.
He has said it himself, particularly in his ill-fated confrontation with Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher. “When we spread the wealth, it’s good for everybody,” Obama said. This is collective principle in the purest sense of the term.
This idea is pure ignorance. Obama’s fiscal plan is to raise taxes, raise the minimum wage and cut spending on vital assets to our nation, such as defense. Raising the minimum wage cuts jobs. The more money employers must pay their employees, the fewer people they can hire. Raising taxes will ruin our economy.
Cutting defense spending is both a terrible blow to our military and a vital source of government-funded jobs. Cutting it will also cripple our economy even further than it already is.
But not only is Obama a socialist in the fiscal sense, but also the social one.
Sen. Obama said, “I think we can say that the constitution reflected an enormous blind spot in this culture that carries on to this day, and the framers had that same blind spot … that continues to this day.”
This is a man who has said that he would pass a legislative amendment that would require doctors to perform abortions against their will at the risk of losing their medical licenses in some situations. Even if you are pro-choice, I think everyone can agree that this is a violation of basic human rights.
The senator’s own runningmate, Sen. Joe Biden, is quoted as saying: “Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama … and he’s gonna need help. We’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. It’s not going to be apparent initially; it’s not going to be apparent that we’re right.”
One question: What on earth is that supposed to mean? What is America thinking, putting our nation, our defense, our economy and our lives in the hands of this man?
This is a campaign and agenda built on lies and seriously dangerous ideals. Every word out of Obama’s mouth is antithetical to the values upon which this country was built and the values that make us Americans. If this man is elected president, that is the time to truly fear for the future of this nation.
