Physical rehabilitation patients at The Ohio State University Medical Center will join Ohio State University Alumni band members for a “Beat Michigan” pep rally at noon on Wednesday, in the Medical Center’s Dodd Hall gymnasium, 480 W. 9th Ave.
Reporters and videographers are invited to join in the fun as Shelley Graf, Ohio State’s first female drum major and a physical therapist at the Medical Center, puts on a twirling exhibition while the band plays “Hang on Sloopy” and several other favorites.
Graf and the band will conclude the rally leading patients, many in wheelchairs, around the gym for “Script Ohio.” The rally will last approximately 30 minutes.
In addition to the pep rally, this year’s event will include a brief speaking program recognizing Stanley and Jodi Ross for their philanthropic generosity toward Dodd Hall. Their son, Malcolm, received treatment at Dodd Hall after suffering critical injuries in an auto racing accident at Indianapolis Raceway Park in 1993.
Dodd Hall is nationally recognized for its programs to treat patients with head, neck and spinal cord injuries, and those recovering from strokes. Dodd Hall is repeatedly listed as one of the best rehabilitation facilities in the country in annual surveys conducted by U.S. News & World Report magazine.
