Critical care doc president of local chapter
Dr. Matthew Exline, of the division of pulmonary, allergy, critical care and sleep medicine at the Ohio State University Medical Center, has been named president of the Ohio Chapter of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Offering a variety of activities promoting excellence in patient care, education, research, and advocacy, the society is the only organization representing all professional components of the critical care team. Exline completed his medical training and residency at Ohio State, and his research and clinical interests include sepsis, and critical care and sleep medicine.
Critical care doc selected to fellowship
Dr. David Nunley, of the division of pulmonary, allergy, critical care and sleep medicine at the Ohio State University Medical Center, has been selected to fellowship in the Society of Critical Care Medicine and will be inducted at the upcoming annual conference in Nashville. Nunley specializes in pulmonary diseases, transplantation and critical care medicine, and his clinical interests include lung transplantation and critical care of solid organ transplant recipients.
Magalung guest editor for respiratory/sleep medicine issue
Dr. Ulysses Magalang, of the division of pulmonary, critical care, allergy and sleep medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center and director of its sleep medicine program, served as guest editor for the December 2008 issue of Sleep Medicines Clinics devoted to “Respiratory Disorders and Sleep.” Authors from Ohio State include Drs. Naeem Ali, Nitin Bhatt, Michael Ezzie, Steven Kadiev, Meena Khan, John Mastronarde, Jonathan Parsons, Namita Sood and Karen Wood.
Martin honored by the United States Army
Dr. Bryan Martin, of the division of pulmonary, critical care, allergy and sleep medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center, was recently presented the Legion of Merit by the U.S. Department of the Army for his dedicated service. Bryan is a retired Colonel of the Medical Corps and is board certified in allergy, immunology and internal medicine.
Knoell receives award from alumni association
Dr. Daren Knoell, associate professor of pharmacy, internal medicine and medical pharmacology at Ohio State University’s Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute, has received the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy Alumni Association Early Career Achievement Award. Knoell is a 1989 graduate of the UNMC College of Pharmacy and was selected for this honor based on his professional experience and scientific expertise that includes NIH supported studies.
Islam invited as guest faculty for pulmonary workshop
Dr. Shaheen Islam, of the division of pulmonary, critical care, allergy and sleep medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center, has been selected to participate in the upcoming annual Lahey Clinic Interventional Pulmonary Course, a prestigious workshop in interventional pulmonology. Islam received his training from the Lahey Clinic in Boston and has a research interest in interventional pulmonary medicine and asthma.
