The body of a 27-year-old Columbus man who was missing for two months was found dead in a pond on the grounds of west campus over spring break.James Scott Crigger, of North Star Road, missing since Jan. 13, was discovered by Ohio State landscape workers the morning of March 19.The body was found floating in the pond at Carmack and Kenny roads, east of Bevis Hall.OSU Police Chief Ron Michalec said OSU turned the case over to the Columbus Police when they found out the case was filed under a missing persons report.According to the Columbus Dispatch , Michalec said, “It’s very difficult to say how long the body had been in the water due to the weather conditions.”Michalec also said homicide was not suspected. For 10 years, Crigger worked as a clerk at the Kroger store in the Grandview area at Northwest Boulevard and Chambers Road.He also attended special-education classes at Grandview Heights High School. “He loved Ohio State. His apartment wasn’t too far from there, and he enjoyed walking around the ponds in that area,” Crigger’s aunt, Anita Casdorph, told the Columbus Dispatch. She said her nephew liked being around water, but could not swim and thinks maybe he tried to walk on thin ice and fell through.Previous autopsy reports were incomplete and Franklin County Coroner William Adrion was unavailable for comment on an update.
