About three years ago, I read a book that set me straight on how to live life in a positive and conscientious way. The book is James Redfield’s “The Celestine Prophecy,” and it tells of nine insights to life and spirituality with the most fundamental idea being that people’s lives revolve around the use of a living energy. The idea of how one can realize their own personal energy and how it interrelates to other forms of energy is the thought process that can lead people to a more full life. At the time my mother suggested I read the book I was at a crossroads in my life. Looking back, I felt like I was not recognizing the potential opportunities that were there for me to grab. I was happy, but I was not content. After I read “The Celestine Prophecy” I was skeptical about the true message of the book, which is life builds upon itself, that your energy grows, and the consciousness of this idea brings you closer to your true spiritual realization. But my skepticism of these ideas started gradually changing after I read the book and digesting the ideas.Basically, I started to looking at my daily life as having the possibility to move me on to a higher level of understanding of why I am here. My daily interaction with people seemed to have more meaning and more substance. I began to look into the things that people would say to me. I felt that I was taking away much more meaningful messages from the people I interacted with. Not only did I begin to communicate easier with people and feel that I had something to add to my life, but I had a lot of success filtering out negative or undesirable energy people were expending. This notion of being able to decide what I wanted from a situation was very helpful for me in everyday life.So besides the idea of realizing life’s energy and how to use it for beneficial purposes, the fact that you start to move towards your own spiritual meaning also is comforting. Now I’m sure that some people think that “The Celestine Prophecy” undermines religion. In my experience as a Catholic, the insights that are presented in the book have only strengthened my beliefs and made it easier for me to see the spiritual side of life. I feel that religion and spirituality should be a positive aspect of life. It is sad to see that spirituality is portrayed in such a damning and urgent way by the preachers in the oval. Just last Christmas I was given the sequel to “The Celestine Prophecy,” James Redfield’s “The Tenth Insight.” This book is a conclusion to the idea of energy, the nine insights, and what they can do for you on a personal level. The tenth insight revolves around the notion of applying individual or group energy to create favorable situations towards a complete human spiritual evolution. It even poses the idea of being able to use energy for healing purposes. The ideas that are presented in “The Tenth Insight” are very intriguing and hold a lot of promise in them. The world is a very complex and trying place. I know that there is a reason why I am here, and I feel as though I should explore my faith in the spirit. If you are interested in exploring your own personal spirituality, I suggest reading “The Celestine Prophecy.”
