The skater-punk rock band, CKY — which stands for Camp Kill Yourself — will attempt to rock the house of Nationwide Arena tonight as the opening act for the renovated rock legend Gun N’ Roses.

The four rockers of CKY, from West Chester, Penn., first made their debut through skate and prank videos such as “CKY2K” and “Landspeed: CKY,” which were directed by CKY drummer Jess Margera’s skateboarder-filmmaker brother, Bam. The videos became the pioneer stages of MTV’s popular series, “Jackass.”

Margera said CKY has moved on from the whole “Jackass” publicity stint, and hopes its music can continue to come alive and awaken people to its original sounds.

“We’re looking to promote our music and show people how good music can be with all the musical crap that is out there now,” he said.

As CKY tours with Guns N’ Roses this fall, it continues to celebrate the success so far of its highly anticipated second album, “Infiltrate.Destroy.Rebuild,” which was released in September. Its debut album “Volume 1” was released in 1999, and CKY also released a collection of prank phone calls and random demos that same year called “Volume 2.”

Its solid rock track from the album, “Flesh into Gear,” is featured in MTV Films’ “Jackass: The Movie” and some band members can even be seen from time to time in some of the shows’ playful antics, such as in shopping cart adventures.

With the help of its extremely large and intense fan base, who have formed “The CKY Alliance,” CKY plans to “change the face of music.”

“The music of today is uncreative with nothing new or original ever hitting the airwaves, such as all the teen bands of the last few years,” Margera said. “We write our own music and have complete control over every aspect of the process. We’re here to make some changes in music, as the new album’s title proclaims.”

The original guitar riffs and interesting musical choruses do offer an alternative to the static formula of most rock music today, and CKY’s live shows promise to impress.

“We don’t need to practice, we’re good,” Margera said. “There’s no need. We’ve been getting up there and just playing and it seems to be working out just fine so far.”

This confident foursome will rock out as the opening act for Guns N’ Roses at 7:30 tonight at Nationwide Arena, 200 W. Nationwide Blvd.
