Professor John Mount celebrated his 85th birthday among Ohio State University faculty, staff and students yesterday. Mount’s colleagues surprised him with a cake while he was teaching his afternoon class in Brown Hall.
Mount has been a mainstay at OSU for over six decades. He graduated from OSU in 1941 and went on to hold a variety of positions including; Secretary of the board of trustees, Dean of University College and vice president of the OSU branch campuses. The professor even has a building, Mount Hall, named after him. Despite his retirement in 1983, Mount has continued to teach an arts and science course on the history of OSU.
