To the Editor:

I noticed that this week’s Lantern poll is about whether Lord Hall should be torn down. Just last week the building celebrated its 100th birthday with some help from Students for the Historic Preservation of Campus.

I agree that the building is in poor condition. I have first-hand experiences with all the quirks of Lord Hall because I work in the second floor Anthropology Department.

It has always struck me as a little too selfish for Ohio State to commit millions of dollars to rebuilding things like the new marble-faced architecture building while it ignores departments with less-illustrious funding. This includes the Lord Hall situation.

It is great to say we should rebuild it, but what is going to happen to the Anthropology Department? What are the plans for the labs inside the building? If OSU wants to preach the liberal arts way, they need to embrace every department, and not just those that attract outside funding.
