This is a very uneducated conclusion that you have written on the topic (“Global warming hot air,” March 28). To be honest, I don’t really concern myself with the lifestyle of Mr. Gore. Although, if true, it would be disturbing; also take into consideration he is a high-profile individual who needs a bit more security than the average person.

Despite that fact, the earth is warming. There is no dispute on that. The dispute is whether the warming is because of a human impact. There are other factors in the past that have changed climate; i.e. volcanoes and such; however, the world has never had 6 billion people consuming so much raw material and burning fossil fuels. One has to think that there has to be some impact with that.

At the small scale, highly-dense areas (big cities), there is a “heat-island effect.” Overlaying this to the globe brings on the same type of conclusion.

A suggestion I provide is to go to the Byrd Polar Research Center on West Campus and speak with people there. I work there and know that when talking to people who do not generally agree, we present the facts, without the bias. There are tours of the ice cores at 1:45 p.m. on Fridays. I truly welcome you to come see, with an open mind.
