“$ Guys Wanted$”

This is the headline of the ad that is currently running in The Lantern recruiting Ohio State men for both solo and full-on sex “adult videos.”

Jeremy Hall, the producer, said he has been working with OSU students on films that cater mostly towards a gay male market .

“I have been shooting with college students,” Hall said. “Because of the ad I get a lot of straight guys who want to do solos.”

There is a great deal of appeal to get into porn because of the money, Hall said. Money that is double or triple the pay of straight porn.

“For a guy to get into straight porn it is extremely difficult,” said Tom Johansmeyer, a contributor for AVN Media Network.

“A guy can get between $300 to $600 – for established players – a scene for straight porn,” Johansmeyer said. “In gay porn once you’re well established you can bring in almost $3,000 a scene if you take it in the ass. (The pay) is a factor of 10.”

Only the students who have done a film with Hall know what the pay was (Hall would not disclose the figure), but he said the pay varies depending if they do solo, oral or anal.

Hall said he refuses to work with students who exhibit hesitation, because he does not want them to regret it later, nor will he coax anyone into doing something they are not comfortable with.

“If I get a college student that says ‘I need the money’ I’ll tell them not to do it. I feel bad, but that’s business,” Hall said.

Some, including veteran porn producer Donny Pauling, who walked away from the industry in 2006, are concerned about the effects these films have on the stars. Pauling has produced hundreds of adult videos, filming scores of women.

Throughout the years, he has seen the toll on the stars.

“After a while I got tired of seeing the lights go out in these girls’ eyes,” Pauling said.

Pauling said it was only a matter of time before he got the call to have content removed from a former model who said doing porn years ago to make ends meet was now destroying her life.

“The content remains forever,” Pauling said. “Out of all the girls I know who did porn, I don’t know any of them who are still happy.”

From his experience covering the porn industry, Johansmeyer said the men and women he has come across see this as any other job.

“A guy has a different attitude. They are working four hours (having sex) with a hot chick,” Johansmeyer said. “Most of the women I talk to see it as a day at the office … Regardless of what they say, I think its empowering (for women). They have the power. They can choose who they have sex with, what they will do and they are the ones introducing the men into porn.”
