Service to be held in memory of students
May 19 there will be a memorial service for all Ohio State students who died during the 2007-8 school year. A non-denominational service will be held at the Browning Amphitheater on the South Oval. The annual service is cosponsored by the Office of Student Affairs’ University Interfaith Association and the Student Advocacy center.
Student-athletes showcase hidden talents for charity
After the success of the first talent show, which included more than 400,000 viewings of the various performances online, student-athletes will perform their hidden talents in the second “Buckeyes Got Talent” show tonight at 7 p.m. at St. John Arena. The fundraiser’s proceeds will go to the Columbus Boys & Girls Club.
Preschoolers to seek out Brutus, learn culture
Local preschoolers and teachers from five Columbus Head Start programs will join Kid Corps members in a global search for Ohio State’s mascot during the “Where in the world is Brutus Buckeye?” event May 16 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Participants will follow clues around the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center, enjoying food, dances and crafts from five continents before a visit from Brutus and President E. Gordon Gee.
National fundraiser pedaling through Columbus
Ride for World Health, a 3,700 mile bike-riding fundraiser created by the Ohio State Medical Center to celebrate Global Health Day, will make a stop in Columbus on May 19. Six OSU bicyclists are participating in the trip that begins in San Diego and concludes in Washington, DC.
Sustainability discussion to be held over coffee
Students for a Sustainable Campus will be hosting a speaker series called “Green Beans: Ecology over Coffee” tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. in Browning Amphitheater. Dr. Fred Hitzhusen, professor of agricultural, environmental, and development economics, will discuss ways to use economics and development to promote a sustainable world. Refreshments, including coffee and tea, will be provided.
