So much for the doctor’s prognosis.

Ohio State junior guard Evan Turner, sidelined by a pair of fractured vertebrae in his spine, told a source close to The Lantern Tuesday night that he “will be back playing in three weeks.”

Turner was expected to miss eight weeks of action after hitting the floor with a thud following a dunk attempt against Eastern Michigan on Dec. 5.

Turner, who leads the Buckeyes (7-2) in points, rebounds, assists and steals per game, said he is already feeling much better.

Coach Thad Matta had indicated that the Preseason All-Big Ten pick was determined to make a speedier-than-expected recovery.

In their first game without their point guard, the Buckeyes fell at Butler, 74-66.

Three weeks from Wednesday, Ohio State plays Indiana in Columbus, the Buckeyes’ third game of conference play.
