After a 71-60 win against St. Bonaventure last week, the Ohio State Lady Buckeyes will try to secure another victory this Thursday.Pitted against the Athletes in Action Women’s USA team, the Buckeyes could face a formidable challenge. The AIA women’s team, who recruit from across the country, won all of their last three games Iowa State (102-98), Colorado State (82-76) and a 70-49 win over Kansas State Monday. An unidentified AIA staff member reported that the team was doing very well.Headquartered in Cincinnati, Athletes in Action is an amateur exhibition team that competes against many Division I Collegiate women’s basketball programs. Posting a total of 1079-617 for both the men’s and women’s team win-loss record, AIA boasts on their web site the uses of sports as a platform “to bring the message of Christ to hundreds of thousands of fans each fall through half-time and post-game presentations.”Forward Barb Franke and guard Nicole Levesque are two keys to the AIA win – loss record. Graduating from Wisconsin in 1996 with 1994 career points and in her first tour with AIA, Franke is reportedly playing some well-executed basketball.Former point guard of the Charlotte Sting, 5-foot-6 Levesque will also be playing Thursday against Ohio State’s best defense in young enthusiastic players like Lady Buckeye Jamie Lewis. Levesque was quoted in a recent interview as saying, “Give it all you’ve got. Every time you step on the court, play with all your heart and when you step off have nothing left.”
