Buckeyes start on right track

The Ohio State Indoor Track and Field team had impressive results on Saturday in a four team meet at the French Field House.OSU, Hampton University, University of Maryland, and Morgan State University took part in The Ohio State University Invitational on Saturday. No team scoring was kept, but many Buckeyes finished first in their events.On the men’s side, OSU high jumper Bart Border leaped 6 feet eight inches for first place honors. OSU took the top four places in the Mile run as Chris England led the Buckeyes with a time of 4-minutes, 21.01 seconds.The 400-meter dash went to OSU’s Cameron Monroe, he finished with a time of 50.08.The 200-meter dash also went the Buckeyes way, as Nakia Fenner ran the distance in a time of 22.1.The women’s team also had their share of winners on the weekend.OSU’s Tamieka Porter won the long jump with a leap of 18-6 1/2.The Buckeyes placed first and second in the shot put. Erika Goines unleashed a throw of 48-7 1/4 for first while Karen Keys placed second with a throw of 40-7 1/2.Other winners for the women included Shandi Boyd-Pleasant in the 55-meter low hurdles and in the 200-meter dash. Beth Baker won the Mile run, Shanda McJunkins took first in the 400-meter dash, and Abby Ewing won the 3,000-meter run.
