The Ohio State men’s basketball team and Indiana will go around for the second time this season tonight in St. John Arena. The Hoosiers got the better of the Buckeyes earlier this year as they won in Assembly Hall, 83-66. The Buckeyes caused problems for themselves early on, as they turned the ball over 12 times in the first half, leading to 17 Hoosier points.”The last time we did not do a good job protecting the basketball,” said Buckeye coach Jim O’Brien. “As a matter of fact, with about six minutes to go in the first half, we had already had 13 turnovers and the turnovers led to transition baskets for them”O’Brien said that he expects a no-frills game plan from the Hoosiers.”We’re familiar with what they’re going to do, they’re pretty simple, they don’t do a whole lot, there is not a lot of gimmicks, but what they do is done exceptionally well.” he said. “So we’re going to have to be a sound fundamental team if we’re going to have any chance what so ever to win this game.”Against Penn State Monday night, Buckeye freshman center Shamar Herron jumped into his first start of the season, going scoreless and grabbing two rebounds in a limited role. He is also expected to start against the Hoosiers tonight. Herron said the added pressure of playing a team with a great tradition like Indiana will not affect his performance on the court.”I’m going to play hard against them and whoever,” he said. “I’m just going to have to play hard and play as intense as I can, whatever happens out there happens.” Herron also said that going up against a coach like Indiana’s Bobby Knight does not matter. Regardless of who the Buckeyes are facing, they are just looking for a victory. “I just want to win, I don’t care if it’s Joe Paterno, Sisters of the Poor, whoever, I just want to go out and win,” Herron said. “He’s a man within himself, I definitely would like to go out against a person of his stature, he’s an incredible coach, and I definitely would like to go out and beat him, especially on our home floor.”Tip-off for tonight’s game has been moved up a half-hour to 7:30 and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN.Indiana leads the series 90-63, but the Buckeyes hold a 44-31 edge in Columbus. Indiana has won six of the last seven meetings between the two schools.
