There will be an Ohio State flavor to this Sunday’s Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers. The Pats have four former OSU players on their roster led by first year player Terry Glenn, who set an NFL record for the most catches by a rookie, with 90.Other members on the Patriots roster are offensive lineman William Roberts, tight end/fullback Keith Byars and punter and third string quarterback Tom Tupa.Roberts has previous Super Bowl experience having played on the 1991 New York Giants team coached by present New England coach Bill Parcells. For Tupa, Byars and Glenn, this is their first shot at the Super Bowl.Parcells has been impressed with Byars since he joined New England in the middle of the season, after being released by the Miami Dolphins.’He is a player that can play both fullback and tight end,’ Parcells said. ‘He can split out wide and he can play the wing and on the goal line he can play five or six spots. So whatever you ask him to do you don’t have to change a lot of people, he is a jack of all trades.’Since coming over to New England, Byars has taken some of the pressure of Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe. Byars has enabled Bledsoe to have a third option on the receiving end, which has taken double teams away from Glenn. For Glenn just getting to the Super Bowl was something he thought he would never be able to reach. Glenn’s mother was murdered when he was 13-years old.’After she was gone, I felt like there was nobody who loved me anymore,’ Glenn said. ‘Really it was like there was nothing to live for. And there were points where I thought I’ll admit I thought I might just take myself out.’Glenn rebounded from the tragedy and went on to be a first round draft choice for the Patriots this season. ******PredictionGreen Bay 27New England 17
