The road through the CCHA is not getting any easier for Ohio State. This weekend the Buckeyes must travel to East Lansing, Mich., to tangle with the 4th-ranked Michigan State Spartans. The two teams will face-off for two games with Friday’s game being featured as the CCHA game of the week.Friday’s game will begin at 7 p.m. and will be televised on the Prime network.’Playing on television is good exposure for our kids, they will have a lot of friends watching and it does add some pressure on them,’ said John Markell, Ohio State’s coach. Game time for Saturday’s match has been switched to 4 p.m., to avoid a conflict with the Michigan State basketball game. For the Buckeyes to beat Michigan State they will have to find a way to generate offense against a team that is 13-0 when they hold their opponents to three goals or less.’We need to find a way to score, Michigan State has a fast team but we need to get up into their face and create offense away from the puck,’ said Buckeye Chris Richards. The Buckeyes have been able to create offense while on the power play, which has been led by Ryan Root, who is third in the conference among defenseman in power play points with 19.Root and his power play line will have to find a way to generate offense against the Spartans penalty killing unit, which is the best in the nation.’Michigan State is a very talented team but we can play with the best teams in the nation, if we can split the rest of our series we will be in very good shape for the playoffs,’ Markell said.
