The forecast for this year’s USG student teacher evaluations is a bigger and more comprehensive publication.USG plans to distribute the results of the student evaluations of professors, lecturers and teaching assistants during the fourth week of spring quarter, said Teniell Trolian, USG director of student teacher evaluations.Last year’s publication was the largest ever, with 450 faculty members participating, Trolian said. Six hundred faculty members have already submitted permission to have the results of their evaluations published this year.”USG wants to encourage student and faculty relationships by recognizing faculty that really go out of their way for the students,” Trolian said.USG is also providing space for those professors who would like to have a list of honors and recognition received printed along with the evaluations, she said.Plans to purchase permanent racks located in high-traffic areas around campus are under way, said USG member Brian Aubert. The racks will be used for distribution of USG publications such as student evaluations.South and north campus dorms, the Ohio Union, the main library and other buildings around campus have been targeted for distribution.Trolian said USG wants students to use this year’s evaluations more than past publications.USG prints the most recent evaluation of professors, who give their permission via e-mail, in the hard copy of the publication, Trolian said. But evaluations from every quarter that the class is offered is available on the USG Web site.USG publishes the results obtained from the Student Evaluation of Instruction forms distributed to students at the end of each quarter, Trolian said. The form is not used by every department, but the majority of classes do provide these forms to the students.USG is pushing for more professors and chairs of departments to use the form, so more teachers can participate in the publication, she said.USG has been printing the results of student teacher evaluations since 1995.
