There is no rush to buy the Corrs’ newest album titled “In Blue.” But if you’re looking for something fresh to listen to, this album might offer you a great change. The album combines the classic sound of Celtic music with new age and techno music. The lyrics are predictable throughout – mostly love songs and weepy ballads. The group’s third recording offers great instrumentals and beautiful violin accompaniment, but at times the songs seem repetitive. The music is the same throughout, so the album doesn’t offer a catch that makes the songs instant favorites. This is not to say the album is not worth listening to, but it might take a while for the songs to grow on you. The second track “Give Me a Reason” is one such song. At first listen, it seems the only thing special about the song is the techno background and violin solo, but after hearing it a few times, it becomes more enjoyable.”Rain” is one of the better tracks on the album. It has an adult contemporary sound but also a sophistication that makes it soft and sweet. “Give It All Up” is one of the album’s most upbeat songs and tells of the troubles of a long-distance romance. The background has hints of calypso and big band music. The track “Hurt Before” is definitely one song on the album not to listen to. The lyrics don’t flow very easily through the song and the experience of listening to it is almost painful.Though that song should have been left off the album, “Rebel Heart” is a great addition. This instrumental is one of the best on the album and is sure to be a hit with fans.In fact, it seems the Corrs’ fans already like this song and the entire album. The album has hit No. 1 in 11 countries including Ireland, the U.K., Australia and Germany.Overall, the album is very well done in terms of production and musical accompaniment. The Corrs have done an excellent job in combining the old sound of Celtic music with the new sounds of today. This album might not be an all-time favorite, but it is an excellent album to play casually and it will definitely get better with time. Just make sure to give it a few chances before making any decisions.
