Former Beatle Paul McCartney, is back with a “Driving Rain,” releasing his latest solo album, earlier this month.
As a Beatle, McCartney was known for such hits as “Yesterday” and “Help.” After the break up of the Beatles, McCartney and his late wife Linda formed the band Wings in 1971, putting together a string of top 10 hits throughout the ’70s. Their first number one hit album in the states, “Red Rose Speedway,” came in 1973. To follow up the success of their album, Wings recorded the theme for the James Bond movie “Live and Let Die.”
McCartney’s newest album is sure to make the holiday wishlists of old fans as well as introduce new fans to what their parents have already known for years, that McCartney can be considered a musical genius.
The first single off the album is properly titled “Freedom.” McCartney wrote it in response to the Sept. 11 attacks. The song made its debut at the concert he organized to show support for New York fire and police officers.
In the song “From A Lover to A Friend,” McCartney sings about the cycles relationships go through and learning to let go.
The song “Tiny Bubbles” is perfectly fitting for the times that the country and even the world are in. The title of the song can be diseptive as to its contents.
The best lyric to explain why the song is perfect for the state of the country today is, “All the world is a tiny bubble.”
To show that the times in McCartney’s life are changing, he titled one of the songs “Heather.” This track reflects how McCartney has learned to live and love again after the death of his first wife.
McCartney uses the new-age sound of techno in many of the songs on the album, however, he also continues the use of classic guitar and piano techniques that he has become so famous for, in order to re-introduce himself to the music community.
