The Fisher College of Business recently made a move to boost its national reputation. The Technology Policy Group has officially joined the Fisher College of Business this winter.
“It was an opportunity that came along, and Dean Alutto is constantly looking to extend our reputation nationwide,” said Steve Mangum, senior associate dean of academic programs at the Fisher College of Business. Joseph Alutto is the dean of the college.
Mangum said six months have passed since the two parties met and three months passed since the deal was finalized.
The Technology Policy Group has begun moving its offices of operation into the college.
TPG is a nationally recognized authority on solving technology policy issues. It earned national attention for its privacy 2000 conference in which it addressed many concerns businesses have with Internet privacy. The privacy 2003 conference is scheduled to take place at Ohio State in the fall.
The addition of TPG to Fisher will greatly affect both TPG and the college.
“We wanted to join an organization with a similar customer base,” said Pari Sabety, the TPG director.
Sabety said joining the business college will result in joint marketing with the college. She said the merger will help create a higher level of business awareness related to broadband high-speed Internet adoption.
The addition of TPG will have an impact on business students and faculty.
“There is a strong possibility that TPG research and faculty research will go together,” Mangum said.
Mangum said that the addition of TPG will extend the business college’s contacts in the business community.
He said TPG joining up with the Fisher College of Business will possibly lead to more CEOs coming to speak to classes. This will result in a chance for students in the college to make contacts within the business community.
