Hidden beside the Wexner Center for the Arts is an often overlooked place to study. The Fine Arts Library is inviting to students searching for a quiet place to hit the books and escape the bustle of campus.
The space is modern in design and spacious, with overhead lighting that brightly illuminates the small space well enough to keep tired and weary-eyed students awake. Rows of roomy tables lined with wooden chairs fill the open rooms. It is almost never crowded as students sit sporadically among the tables. Signs read “Quiet study area. Please, no talking.”
The mellow, serene environment is an ideal place where students can spread out their books and study without being interrupted by the constant chaos and crowds of people. Unlike overcrowded libraries on campus, the Fine Arts Library does not have swarms of students moving in and out, bustling with books and chattering among themselves.
The design lends itself to modern architecture with clean lines and sharp angles. With very few decorations, except some well chosen artworks hung on the bare white walls, there are few visual distractions.
Black leather couches placed within a small sitting area in the back of the study space invite students to relax and maybe read that textbook that seems so unappealing lying flat on a cold wooden table.
For even more seclusion, individual chairs and side tables are tucked away and barely visible between rows and rows of books.
If looking for a library that has multiple computer stations available, students might want to look elsewhere. The Fine Arts Library only has a handful of computers available for students, five, most of which are always in use.
To simply study with a book, some paper and a pencil in a quiet, peaceful area, the Fine Arts Library is one of the better libraries on campus.
It is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. On the weekend, the library is open Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m. and Sundays 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
