Researchers first to analyze gene expression in sarcoidosisA consortium of researchers, including those from Ohio State University Medical Center, are the first to assess genome-wide gene expression at the tissue level in patients with sarcoidosis. The study’s findings appear online in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. “Our study provides novel insights into diseases pathogenesis and identifies novel prognostic biomarkers,” says Dr. Elliott Crouser, first author of the study and a pulmonologist and critical care specialist at OSU Medical Center. Crouser said this study has led scientists to the discovery of new potential biomarkers of disease and new possible targets for treatment of sarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis is the most common interstitial lung disease and the cause is unknown.

Nurses rank OSU Medical Center a top hospitalA national publication targeting nursing professionals has ranked Ohio State University Medical Center the 48th best hospital for employment. Randomly-selected hospital nurses throughout the country were sent surveys and asked to measure their job satisfaction based on personal training and development opportunities, flexible working arrangements, and promotion of equality and diversity in the nursing workforce.
