The Zetas and Alphas stepped their way to No. 1 at last year’s National Pan-Hellenic Council Step Show, but this year it will take more than clapping and stomping to steal the top spot.

Zeta Phi Beta won first place in the sorority division and Alpha Phi Alpha took first out of the fraternities.

Every fraternity and sorority in the “Divine Nine” is working hard this year to make their organizations shine.

“Our bruhz from Central State are doing it for us. They are practicing hard every night making sure everything is good,” said Nathaniel Oliver, an OSU junior and member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

Not only will the Greeks be bringing the entertainment, but comedian Donnell Rawlings will be hosting the show.

Students might recognize Rawlings from the Chelsea Lately show or as “Ashy Larry” from Chappelle’s Show.

National Pan-Hellenic chapters and the OSU community are looking forward to the entertainment.

“They are just looking forward to the competition. When the lights come on, the boots gotta shine,” Oliver said.

The show isn’t just important for OSU Greeks. It’s a culturally enriching event for the campus and the Columbus community.

NBC4 is promoting the step show as a community event. This type of promotion will help the university and affiliates in their efforts to promote Greek life in a positive manner, said Patrick Kulmacz, an OSU junior and member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.

The step show is also in collaboration with Lifeline of Ohio. According to Lifeline of Ohio’s website, its mission “is to educate and empower central and southeastern Ohioans about organ and tissue donation while also facilitating the donation process.”
This year, the 23rd Annual National Pan-Hellenic Council Step Show will kick off Ohio State’s Greek Week, which includes Greek chapters from the Inter-Fraternity Council, MultiCultural Greek Council, Pan-hellenic Association and National Pan-Hellenic Council.

The show will be held in the Mershon Auditorium Tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for OSU students will be $10 with a Buck-ID. General admission at the Wexner Center Box Office will be $15. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster.

Ohio Union Activities Board will be hosting an NPHC Step Show After-Party at the Ohio Union from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. OSU Greeks will get free admission. The general public will pay $5 before 12:00 a.m. and $10 after.
