Ohio State found scoring from seven different players against Boston University on Saturday, but it also relied on the same players from the week before.

In the Buckeyes’ 17-10 win against the Terriers, senior midfielder Jack Jasinski and junior attacker Tre LeClaire came up big once again, giving Ohio State nine goals between the two.

Jasinski’s five goals were a team high and LeClaire added four of his own to give the pair eight and seven goals on the season, respectively.

“The goal every year is to improve,” Jasinski said. “This year I keep chipping away and at it and luckily the results came our way.”

Ohio State (2-0) and its’ fast-paced offense came out with a 10-3 lead at the half, before senior attacker James Burr and Boston (1-1) made a surge comeback in the second half to close the gap before the Buckeyes ultimately pulled away late for a seven-goal win.

“You take confidence from doing, and we were confident going into today from what we saw in practice this week,” head coach Nick Myers said. “I think the guys were confident that all we needed to do was do what we did for three or four days that to me was probably the biggest key, we didn’t have that feeling a week ago, and I love the way the guys responded to last week.”

The offense was on full display from the start of the whistle, with Jasinski opening the scoring with a goal less than a minute into the contest. Boston countered that with a goal early from freshman attacker Timmy Ley,  but the Buckeyes would get three straight goals for a 4-1 lead.

The Terriers would get another goal before Ohio State came back again with three straight goals to end the first quarter with a 7-2 lead.

The second quarter was more of the same, with the Buckeyes starting the quarter off quickly on a goal by sophomore midfielder Colby Barker, his first goal of the season, helping Ohio State take a seven-goal lead into a halftime

In the third quarter, the game started to turn. after the third goal from LeClaire, Boston scored four straight goals to cut the game to 11-7 before the Buckeyes ended the quarter with back-to-back goals for a 13-8 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Ohio State outscored the Terriers 4-3 in the final frame to take the victory and move to 2-0 on the season

“We were trying to do a little too much, and we got back to it in the fourth quarter,” Jasinski said.

Burr finished with six goals for the Terriers, and Boston freshman goalie Joe McSorley made five saves on 22 attempts.

Ohio State freshman goalie Skylar Wahlund made his first career start, making eight saves and leaving the game with a .500 save percentage before redshirt-sophomore Josh Kirson came in, saving three shots on five attempts.

“I think both goalies did a good job, we didn’t do a great job in that third quarter, I think we got two guys that are really capable, just like a lot of positions there is competition,” Myers said.
