A female student was abducted at gunpoint on Monday in a parking lot located on the Ohio State Mansfield campus, according to a public safety notice from Ohio State. Mansfield Police are now investigating.

According to a university release, at approximately 11:45 a.m. the suspect, reported as Ty’rell Pounds, approached a female student, reported as Skylar Williams, in a campus parking lot and forced Williams into his vehicle after displaying a handgun. Pounds then fled the area with the victim. The release said Pounds was known to Williams, but did not elaborate on the extent of the prior knowledge.

Reports indicated that Pounds stole the vehicle, a 2019 Dodge Caravan, dark in color.

Lt. Rob Sellers of Mansfield police said that there is no additional information at this time.

Mansfield police are currently investigating the situation. Anyone with information of Pounds’ whereabouts and Williams whereabouts, should contact the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol at 419-756-2222.

Police warn to not approach the suspect because he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
