The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team will host their last and strongest opponents for this season, Notre Dame, at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3. “Notre Dame and Rutgers are the two most important games of the season,” said Joe Gans, a senior from Worthington. Notre Dame is currently ranked 10th nationally and will automatically move on to the NCAA championship tournament, even if they lose against the Buckeyes this weekend. The Buckeyes lost 13-4 against Notre Dame last year. Coach Paul Caldwell said Notre Dame only lost one senior from last year’s season which means his players know Notre Dame’s strengths and game strategy.”The key for our offense is to possess the ball as long as possible, because Notre Dame’s offense is very dangerous,” Gans said. “We need to hustle and execute at the right time.”Captain Tim Johnson, a senior from New York, said he sees the upcoming game as the most challenging game of the season. “It is a big game for us,” Johnson said. “Every one has to play his best in his position in order to win.”Johnson said if the team as a whole plays consistently strong, there is a chance to win.He is currently the leading scorer, followed by his brother Kevin Johnson, a sophomore. After the 16-6 loss last week against Butler University, the Buckeyes have an overall record of 6-5.
