Ready to take an “exploration into the lunar consciousness,” and dance with the vibrations of the moon moving the feet? That is a heavenly thought, but it can happen, especially with help from the Moon Dance Experiment’s latest CD, “Your Movements.” With songs that go “Boom Boom Boom,” listeners can feel the beats pounding from beneath their feet.

The Moon Dance Experiment has 23 tracks full of innovative and spasmodic songs that take a listener “anywhere you want to be.” First, the album finds the listener in “Gooble Geeble,” strongly similar to Marilyn Manson’s “Beautiful People,” one of the best tracks on the CD. Then, the music finds the listener “Wanting to Explode.” Either way, the experience is rewarding enough to return many times over.

If “Your Movements” is all about inducing emotions, then certainly the Moon Dance Experiment’s CD deserves the title of “Dr. Feelgood” of this generation. The impressive album was composed, recorded and performed in their self-owned MmmDEee Crater Studio.

The group is made up of keyboardist and percussionist Nick Barger, drummer and guitarist Scott Parsons and vocalist and bass guitarist North Turner. The Moon Dance Experiment’s dedication to creating musical experiences that man has never witnessed does not stop with music.

The band’s live performances are one-of-a-kind with stage props like the multi-colored light helmet called the Eureka Conception Machine and the Dancing Puppet. Could there truly be a greater experience than that of the lunar consciousness?

And if by chance skepticism takes control, just “Listen to the Birds” and find the way back to the moon.

The Moon Dance Experiment will celebrate the release of its latest CD, “Your Movements,” with two shows. The first will be tonight at the Lab (the Mad Lab Theater) with Columbus’ own, Quarkspace. The second is on April 20 at the Lab with another Columbus band, Flotation Walls. These are performances not to miss.
