Alvin and the Chipmunks go techno. Basically, that describes the latest CD release by Happy Hardcore, a techno dance group. The album, ‘Happy 2b Hardcore,’ is a mix of high-speed techno, vocals and an occasional non-computerized instrument. For those who enjoy techno or club music, ‘Happy 2b Hardcore’ is a waste of money. The record label, Moonshine Music, claims that Happy Hardcore is one of the biggest music scenes currently in the UK. That is debatable. ‘Happy 2b Hardcore’ is the follow-up to the group’s supposedly best selling ‘Speed Limit 140 BPM Plus’ series. One CD at 140 beats per minute is enough, let alone a series of them. The CD has 16 tracks – all too fast. When listened to very closely, ‘Five Minutes of Funk’ by Whoodini and ‘Take on Me’ by A-Ha can be heard playing in the background. That was the best part of the entire CD.For those interested in the latest by Happy Hardcore, ‘Happy 2b Hardcore’ comes out Jan. 21.
