The Ohio State Board of Trustees will welcome two new faces today, as newly-appointed businessman Walden W. O’Dell and student Emily M. Quick officially begin their terms on the 11-member board.

O’Dell comes from a business background. He serves as chairman, president and CEO of Diebold, Inc. in Canton, a global provider of ATM software systems and electronic voting mechanisms. He has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from St. Louis University and an MBA from Stanford University.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to work with the premier university in the state,” O’Dell said. “Ohio gave me a big hug, and I’m hugging back and not letting go.”

O’Dell is no stranger to the OSU community. He is a member of the OSU Advocates and is a lifetime associate alumnus.

O’Dell has been married for 36 years and has four children, the youngest is a senior at OSU. O’Dell serves on a number of organizations, notably the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

Joining O’Dell on the board of trustees is student Quick. Quick is an honor student in business administration. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society and has served as a University Ambassador and a summer orientation leader.

“I am excited and extremely honored for the wonderful learning experience of joining the Board of Trustees,” Quick said. “It is interesting to see what impact the trustees have long-term for students.”

Quick has also been a member of the OSU Marching Band since August 2002. She is the Secretary of the Black Music Student Association and also served as a squad leader in the spring band.
