10:00 a.m. I set up shop at the 14th. There was a lot of noise comingfrom over here yesterday so I figured I’d investigate. It’s a near perfectly straight 363 yard par four. It has a creek running through the fairway at about 310 and wraps around the green. It’s probably one of the prettier holes here.

10:58 a.m. The first group tees off. On his second shot Robert Gamez’sball gets baptized. He’s the first victim of the crick. Woody Austin seems to be unaffected by the fiasco on 18 yesterday. He birdies.

11:45 a.m. Vijay Singh miraculously saves par after dropping the approach in the back bunker, chipping out narrowly missing the water, then chipping the ball into the hole. Notah Begay III miraculously saves par after dropping the approach in the back bunker, chipping out narrowly missing the water, then chipping the ball into the hole. Deja vu all over again.

12:02 p.m. Kenny Perry pars. After round two he leads the field at minus 11.

12:55 p.m. All of a sudden there are a thousand more people than theminute before. Oh…. Tiger’s here. His putt takes forever to roll, it creeps up to the hole. On the edge it pauses, if golf were a movie you’d here suspenseful music. It drops for a birdie. Still no fist pump, but this time he did wave to the crowd.

1:22 p.m. John Daly puts a hurt on the ball and lands it in the bunker tothe left of the green off the tee. 360 plus yards. That’s sick. Too bad it didn’t help. He bogies the hole.

3:20 p.m. Mark O’Meara drops a long put that breaks three feet. I don’tknow how long it was. Too long to guess.

3:29 p.m. I take off my shoes, I’m on holy ground. Jack has arrived. Hissecond shot comes up a little short and comes to rest on the edge of the fairway. A mortal would use a wedge, Jack uses putter. He almost makes it but as we all know close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. He manages a par.

4:25 p.m. Craig Perks off the tee finds the gallery side of the creek. Hemust have had a real good view because on shot two he nails the pin. He gets a near-gimme birdie.

5:19 p.m. Dudley Hart miraculously saves par after dropping the approach in the back bunker, chipping out narrowly missing the water, then chipping the ball into the hole. Deja vu all over again…..again.

5:30 p.m. Last group tees, pars and moves on. Me, too.
