On Tuesday morning, a female staff member of Transportation and Parking Services was kidnapped briefly from Bevis Hall.
Richard Richardson, 24, is charged with forcing her to leave the building by threat of a knife, according to University Police.
“It appears they drove away from campus and the two of them were in a car for a period of time when he actually ended up letting her go back out by Bevis Hall,” said Rick Amweg, assistant chief of University Police.
Although Amweg confirms a relationship existed between Richardson and the victim, he would not elaborate. Nor would he offer any motive for Richardson because there is still an ongoing criminal investigation.
At 8:46 p.m. that evening, police said they arrested a cooperative Richardson at his home in Buckeye Village.
Richardson, who has no affiliation with Ohio State, was charged with kidnapping, domestic violence and assault. He was processed with the University of Police and taken to Franklin County Jail.
