Be a champion and donate blood

American Red Cross is asking for blood donors. They must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and are in general good health. The entire process takes about an hour. The schedule for this week is: Baker Hall today and tomorrow from 2 to 8 p.m., Siebert Hall Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m., Mack/Canfield Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m., and the Ohio Union (second floor) Saturday from 2 to 8 p.m.

Poetry reading with Citino

Poetry fans on campus are invited to a poetry reading of David Citino, professor of English and poet laureate at Ohio State. The free event will be at from 4-5 p.m. today at the Faculty Club’s Grand Lounge. For more information call Cheryl Valentine at 688-8584.

Sept. 11 Economics Lecture

Stephen Cechetti, professor of economics, will present a lecture entitled “Behind the Scenes on September 11: How the Federal Reserve Made Sure that Cash Machines and Credit Cards Kept Working” at 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Wexner Center. The speech is a part of the University Distinguished Lecture Series.

Previous president coming to visit

Former OSU President William “Brit” Kirwan will return to campus as the six annual Lena C. Baily Lecture guest speaker at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the College of Human Ecology.

Emerita Lena C. Baily joined the university in 1969 after completing her docterate and rose in the ranks until she became the College of Home Economics’ first dean in 1984. She served OSU for 35 years until her death in 1996.

Kirwan left OSU last spring to become chancellor of Maryland’s universities.

School of Natural Resources Seminar
