Former coach filed lawsuit after fired

Former Indiana University men’s basketball coach Bob Knight filed a lawsuit against the university this week, alleging his contract was breached when he was fired.

The suit alleges Knight lost more than $2 million when he was dismissed early and also questions whether or not the university properly handled his firing, according to Reuters.

Knight and Indiana attempted to negotiate outside of court but were unsuccessful, which led to the filing of Knight’s lawsuit.

Knight was fired in September 2000 – about two years before his contract was set to expire – after numerous angry outbursts and a physical altercation with a student prompted the decision by university officials.

Policeman accused of sex solicitation

Central State University’s police chief is in hot water after allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover police officer last Saturday.

Everett Williams, 48, has been charged with a misdemeanor and will be arraigned in Dayton Municipal Court. The university has placed him on paid administrative leave while the case is pending, according to The Associated Press.

Williams was not on duty when the alleged incident took place, but he was using an unmarked university vehicle.

Nicest residence halls highlighted

Cable television in bathrooms, hot tubs and marble floors – these are just a few of the luxuries found in some of the nation’s nicest residence halls.

Recently, The New York Times highlighted several of these residence halls. Their list of best halls included Shaw Hall at Michigan State University, which was newly remodeled to include hot tubs, televisions and makeup mirrors in the communal bathrooms.

George Washington University’s City Hall, formerly a hotel, also made the cut. It features kitchens that include a full-size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and garbage disposal, marble floors, opulent décor and a pool.

Boston University’s Buick Street residence hall is another luxurious place to room. It cost $85 million to construct and has central air, wireless Internet connections, full kitchens and a café.
