The Central Ohio Crime Stoppers Program has reported an Aug. 24 homicide in the North Linden area as the crime of the week. An incident early that morning left Michael Bailes dead. Bailes died from complications from a gunshot wound to the head.
Witnesses reported seeing two black males run from a red and while Kenworth semi-truck parked in an alley near the Linden Medical Center. Responding officers found Bailes inside the truck. Crime Stoppers has posted a reward of up to $2,000 for any information received by Dec. 10. They can be reached at 645-TIPS.
Man caught with stolen textbooks
Derrick Lamont Simmons, 25, of Northmeadows Court, was arrested on Nov. 26 at the OSU Bookstore on Millikin Road. He was found in possession of both a finance and statistics book. Both books were property of the store and neither had been purchased, said University Police.
Woman arrested on old warrant
Alessandra C. Martinelli, 18, of Upper Arlington was arrested on Saturday for an outstanding warrant. The warrant related to a Sept. 30 incident in which she was stopped and cited for failure to display license plates and driving under suspension. Martenelli did not have a valid driver’s license and was operating a vehicle which had expired plates.
Woman charged with trespassing
Reva Loraine Kitts, 68, was arrested at the corner of Lane Avenue and Kenny Road on Nov. 26. She was charged with criminal trespassing at the OSU barns.
