Letter to the editor:

We would like to send our deepest condolences to the entire city of Boston, and to all those affected by the senseless acts of violence committed over the past week. We would also like to applaud and thank the valiant men and women of the Boston Police Department, the FBI and all other parties involved in the incredible effort to capture the suspects, taking every possible measure to protect the citizenry and saving countless lives.
We would also like to remind everyone that the actions of a few deplorable individuals do not reflect on the principles or character of the race, religion or ethnicity that said individuals are affiliated with. It is because of our Islamic faith that we stand firmly against the reprehensible actions that were carried out by the two suspects. Indeed, God tells us in the Holy Quran, “If anyone kills an (innocent) person … it would be as if he killed all of humanity” (5:32).
We hope that this immensely difficult time of anguish, confusion and pain can serve as an opportunity for all of us, as Americans, to unite as a single family and grow stronger than ever before.
