Audience members who wish to interact with performers while they are on stage are usually limited to dancing and singing along to their favorite songs. Get ready for a whole new level of interaction. The Slipshod Theatre Company is an improvisational comedy troupe that bases their material off of what the audience dictates, troupe member George Caleodis said.”The beauty of the show is that the audience is writing the show as we go along,” Caleodis said.He said that typically the group challenges the audience to answer a simple question, then they do some weird and wacky thing based on the response. An example of a challenge would have the audience asked to tell the group what is in a car. Caleodis said the troupe would take it from there. He said that the group rarely has trouble coming up with something no matter what the audience responds because the group performs with six to seven people.”If somebody has an off night, the other members pick him up,” Caleodis said.He said that although the routine is based on what the audience wants to hear, there are stock elements of the show that pop up periodically.”As long as Bill Clinton is in the White House, we will always have jokes based on him,” Caleodis said. The core of the group has been performing for three years and consists of Miguel Baldoni, Caleodis, Darren Esler, Matt McDonald and Ted Mulligan.Looking to expand its horizons and audience, Slipshod is preparing to film a movie entitled “Goodnight Cleveland.”Written by Baldoni, the movie is about a bunch of bad comedians who are duped by a crooked comedy club manager to run drug money from town to town.Caleodis said the script is loosely autobiographical and is filled with individual anecdotes.”The anecdotes are from experiences that have been shared with us from other comedians,” Caleodis said. “The script was thrown together from there.” The group performs weekly doing everything from bar rooms to private shows. The group will perform on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Saturday’s show is at Ashley’s Lounge at Holiday Inn on the Lane, 328 W. Lane Ave. The show starts at 9 p.m. Admission is $5. Sunday’s show is at Little Sister’s at Ramada Inn South, 1879 Stringtown Rd. The show starts at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
