Mt. Graham stirs strong feelings
As I was reading the article on Mt. Graham, I became enraged at the comment made by Patrick Osmer. He says, “This is a very large mountain. This is just a very tiny use.” I can’t believe that an educated person would say something so incredibly ignorant . Yes, it is a huge mountain but it means so much to the Native American people. Don’t you think that the U.S. government has taken enough away from these people? The Native American people are being repressed. When is it ever going to end? This is sacred land, do you have any idea what that means? This project will ruin the land and interfere with religious practices. Why do you think that laws were made in the first place to protect this land? Just to be broken in the name of progress. Sounds to me that history is repeating itself. We have repressed these people long enough. It’s time to leave them alone.I am 100 percent for scientific progress, but not if we have to push people out of the way and destroy cultural practices. Enough is enough. Yes, Mr. Osmer it is a large mountain but this is a large planet, put your telescope somewhere else.
