Remember those platform shoes you had to have but ended up wearing only once? Well, dust them off and take them down to one of the ‘buy, sell, or trade’ clothing stores on High Street.Rag-O-Rama, 2661 N. High St., and Relapse, 1990 1/2 N. High St., give you the chance to weed out and spruce up your wardrobe. Both stores carry clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women.Rag-O-Rama, a division of Avalon Stores Inc., carries a wide range of clothing items from current to vintage styles.”Students are interested in the ‘buy, sell, or trade’ concept because it is cheaper than going to the mall,” Torres said. Students can bring their unwanted clothes in good condition to Rag-O-Rama for cash or exchange.”We offer 40 percent in cash or 50 percent in trade of the item’s selling price up front,” said Della Torres, manager of Rag-O-Rama, of their buying policy. “We are not a consignment shop.”Like Rag-O-Rama, Relapse also offers cash or trade for unwanted clothing, shoes and accessories depending on the condition of the items.”We won’t take an item if it has holes or is missing a button,” said Linda Howard, an employee at Relapse. “We also make sure that before we put something out we have dry cleaned and steamed it and that it looks as best as it possibly can.”Relapse specializes in vintage clothing that includes many Victorian styles. Some of the hats and accessories date back to the late 1800’s.”We get a lot of fashion design and theater students that shop here because of our vintage clothes,” Howard said. “We also have a lot of regular customers who come in every week to see what is new.”
